Scott has 20 years of nursing experience under his belt, having worked for Queensland Health, Alfred Hospital and Monash Hospital.

Scott and his partner Max live with their 15-month-old goofball golden retriever, Haloumi.

It’s National Skin Cancer Action Week!

Often called our ‘national cancer’, Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Approximately 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer during their lifetime.

This awareness campaign - driven by @cancercouncil and The Australasian College of Dermatologists - encourages all Australians to make sun protection part of their daily routines.

Incidental sun exposure adds up: sun exposure and skin damage is cumulative, leading to a higher risk of skin cancer later in life.

To limit the risk of developing skin cancer, use all five forms of sun protection when the UV level is 3 or above:
— Slip on sun protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible
— Slop on SPF50 or SPF50+, broad-spectrum and water-resistant sunscreen. Apply it 20 minutes before going outdoors and re-apply every two hours afterwards
— Slap on a hat - broad brim or legionnaire style to protect your face, head, neck and ears
— Seek shade
— Slide on sunglasses - make sure they meet Australian Standards

Today is World Diabetes Day.

World Diabetes Day (WDD) is a global awareness campaign created in 1991 by International Diabetes Foundation and the World Health Organization. It became an official United Nations Day in 2006.

Millions of people with diabetes face daily challenges managing their condition at home, work and school, impacting both their physical and mental wellbeing.

The theme for WDD 2024-26 is ‘diabetes and wellbeing’. With appropriate access to diabetes care and support for their wellbeing, everyone with diabetes has the chance to live well.

Did you know that you can book all your medical appointments online?

We encourage patients to book their appointments online via AutoMed. Patients can also use the AMS Connect app to book and manage appointments. Both links are in our bio!

Our receptionists receive a high volume of calls, with a significant portion being appointment requests. By booking your appointments online, you’re freeing up our reception team to provide quality support to patients in need.

If you need assistance navigating AutoMed or the AMS Connect app, a staff member will be more than happy to help. Just let reception know and we can get you set up!

A key initiative of Cancer Australia, this campaign highlights common lung cancer symptoms to help Australians identify cancer at an early stage and improve treatment outcomes.

Lung cancer symptoms include coughing up blood, a persistent cough that doesn’t go away, chest and/or shoulder pain, a recurring chest infection, breathlessness or wheezing.
